Rosie Coyote: A One-In-A-Million Success Story

ne of the most adaptable animals in the world, the coyote can change its breeding habits, diet and social dynamics to survive in a wide variety of habitats. The majority of coyotes never see people and people never see them.

It is estimated that there are up to 3,000 coyotes living in the greater Chicago area alone and that this circumstance applies to many other cities in North America - from New York to Los Angeles.

In Washington, D.C.'s Rock Creek Park, coyotes den and raise their young, scavenge road kill, and hunt rodents.

There are now more coyotes living in the United States than when the Declaration of Independence was signed.

They are not going away. We need to learn to live with them.

This is the story of one of those coyotes: Rosie, and what many learned from her.
